Animal Well on AnyPS5

Updated

Animal Well reaches gameplay with music and ambience in JAB-dev's October 10 Windows report. The tested main revision already includes all eleven fixes named by the author, who found no blocker during that session. It is a useful starting point if you want to try a game beyond its opening screens.

Windows: gameplay and audio on main

The Animal Well bring-up discussion pairs the gameplay result with an audio comparison covering panning and reverb. Those details matter in a game whose atmosphere depends so much on what you hear.

This configuration uses main commit 2ba993a. The author relinked the decrypted game executables for Windows with WinLibs GCC 15.2.0 r7 and needed no extra environment variables. Follow AnyPS5 setup for the conversion and runtime layout, then match the game version and build in the configuration below.

If an older build fails to start

The merged fixes cover startup failures, unresolved NGS2 imports and several audio problems, including choppy sound and silent title music. An old build that stops before gameplay may therefore need a runtime update before you investigate the game files.

After reaching gameplay, check that a save survives closing and reopening the game before committing to a longer session. The October 10 run leaves that round trip open.
