DOOM Shareware homebrew on AnyPS5

Updated

Lowbit's classic DOOM homebrew has interactive Windows gameplay on an October 14 AnyPS5 main build. A separate patched Windows run reaches E1M3 and includes audible audio and a successful save reload. Both use homebrew v1.1.1; these results cover that port, not a retail PS5 DOOM release.

Windows main: movement and combat in E1M1

The 14 October follow-up in the DOOM bring-up discussion uses main 97445386f without additional PRs. Keyboard and mouse control movement, firing, pickups and the automap in E1M1.

This is a useful first target for a reproduction. Audio-device initialization appears in the log, but the author did not listen to the output in this run. Saving, later maps and a physical controller were also left unchecked.

Patched Windows build: E1M3, audio and saves

The 10 October patched run goes further: E1M3, audible sound, menu actions and a save that reloads on a later launch. Its full test revision is not specified, making it harder to reproduce than the main-only configuration. The reported duration uses process CPU time, so it does not establish elapsed playtime.

Audio and save checks still need repeating on the October 14 main build. For a first attempt, follow AnyPS5 setup, verify that E1M1 responds to input, then test sound and a save/exit/reload cycle before moving on.

Animal Well on AnyPS5 offers another main-build gameplay result with audio. Minecraft Preview on AnyPS5 uses a more involved integration and saved-world route. Return to AnyPS5 games for the compatibility overview.
