Subnautica on AnyPS5

Updated

Subnautica reaches a new game, the lifepod and swimming on Linux main. The October 18 RX 6650 XT test rendered these scenes correctly, but loading stalled for minutes and play ran at roughly 5–10 FPS.

Linux: from the lifepod to the ocean

The Subnautica test uses main 61d3d3080, title ID PPSA02453, a Ryzen 9 5950X and Mesa 26.2.4 with the RADV driver. The host runs CachyOS Linux, and the game used no environment switches.

The run passed the title screen and New Game, showed the lifepod fire and emergency startup, then reached the ocean surface and underwater areas. The window title showed roughly 20 FPS at the title screen, 5 FPS in the lifepod and 10 FPS on the surface.

The faster patch is a separate result

Adding patch #4449 to the same main revision removed the reported host-memory import failures. That build reached about 13 FPS in the lifepod and 14 FPS on the surface and underwater. Keep that patch condition with the faster numbers when comparing hardware.

Prepare the game with AnyPS5 setup, and allow for the long loading transition before treating it as a crash. Long sessions and save reload remain untested on this configuration. Browse AnyPS5 games for other playable-scene reports.
